Kristian Koskela presents his media art and VJ performances under the name KOS (formerly KOSK). Since 2022, he has developed and performed live video art, focusing on layered visuals of noise, texture, and geometry.
His work explores memory and nostalgia through the processes of analogue and digital degradation, as well as the contrasts between natural and urban environments.
A VJ (video jockey) creates and performs visual content in real time.
Their job is to shape and complement the atmosphere at events, concerts and clubs. They do this with varying techniques including generative art, layering of pre-made video clips, programming, and liquid light shows.
VJing has matured into an art form now seen in a wide range of events, but has its roots in underground movement, experimental art, and club culture.
For further reading of the history and culture I recommend the book Live Visuals: History, Theory, Practice by Steve Gibson et al.

Thesis for my Bachelor of Culture and Arts at LAB University of Applied Sciences.
"VJ-demo: The production of video demos for audiovisual cultural events" is a thesis on the creation of demo videos open calls and a brief history of live video art.
The thesis focuses on the creation of two demo videos and applications for open calls. Each event reflects different types of video jockeys, which the thesis examines in relation to the history of audiovisual performances since the 18th century. The thesis also includes an in-depth look at the practical techniques and tools used in the applications as well as in general.
